Highlight: The Bale Mountains National Park: contains the richest flora and fauna of the alpine habitat in all of Ethiopia. The park occupies a surface area of 2,470 Km 2 and includes altitudes from 1,500 – 4, 377 meters. This provides a unique diversity of landscape, vegetation, and fauna. The park is also interesting because of the uniqueness of its endemic animals and birds. Rivers and streams cut gorges across the plateau and form waterfalls in some places. Craggy crests rise above the plateau. The most outstanding peak is the second tallest in Ethiopia, Tullu Deemtu at 4,377 metres. Mount Batu, at 4,203 meters is also impressive.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Bale International Airport (Addis Ababa) where you will be met by Passion Ethiopia Tours representative and transfer to hotel. O/N - Hotel
Day 2: Drive through Ethiopian Rift Valley Region to Wendo Genet. O/n Hotel.
Day 3: Drive to Dinsho- the headquarter of Bale Mountains National Park. O/N Camping.
Day 4: Trek to Geysay Valley and back to Dinsho. O/N Camping.
Day 5: Trek and pass through the lovely waterfall of Finch’abera, and finally reach the beautiful campsite of Meraro (3750 m). O/N - Camping.
Day 6: Trek beneath the peaks of the same name; see and taste the strange mineral springs before making the steep ascent out of the head of the valley onto the Sanette Plateau. Travel across to camp beneath Mount Batu’s (4203 m) crags, at the head of the Shiya Valley. O/N - Camping.
Day 7: Climb Batu (4203 m) and then trek on across the arms of mount Batu, to camp beside lovely Garba Guracha Lake - set beneath owering cliffs in the head of the Tegona Valley. O/N - Camping.
Day 8: Trek across the Plateau and its many lakes to be met by vehicle at the Goba. O/N - Hotel.
Day 9: Drive to Sodere - a famous weekend resort center. O/N - Hotel.
Day 10: Drive back to Addis, sightseeing tour and departure.
